Hello everyone. As you may know, i am new player, trying to play this game. In love with this pvp orient and so on. But
its hard as fk.
All these days I play this game, i try to read skills and understand what they do, i buy my first crests armour set. But I literally do nothing.
I picked chopper as kind people suggested - I do nothing. I die like instantly, I dont feel how i can damage someone, Im lowest on damage scores amongs dd. Then some people inside the game said that I picked suicide bomb/most hard melee dps in the game.
Maybe I dont understand this concept of the game.
I picked chosen - yes, definetly I live longer, but I just dont like tanks all my life. Idk. Why is it so frustrating to play melee dps unlike other mmo.
My BO 2h did no damage (and no tanking) thanks to people here I was told it could be viable only in right hands with bis. And so on.
I just really want to stay in this game, but gosh it so newbie unfriendly, I never encountered such game before. Because in RVR on tier 1 I am grouped with lvls like me, right?! But all i can do is either just die or just stand outside and watch.
What am I missing. Maybe the concept of this game is like melee is for skilled guys so pick something else, or maybe its not for newcomers at all and mostly this game is for vets from live and stuff like that?
I just dont want to spend like month or two and end up with the same feeling of being screwed all the time and dropping anyway.
P.S.
Its not about that I die. Its about I dont see how I can do anything but die. I literally press skills and nothing happens with my opponent, health doesnt frkn drop - nothing, just little numbers pop up. Yeh at the same time opponent just mauls me.
Help pls i S*ck in this game

Re: Help pls i S*ck in this game
mDPS require guard, heals and assist. Clearly not for newbies. I'd suggest finding a guild to play with.
Re: Help pls i S*ck in this game
Early on especially, mdps shouldn't be that hard. Just keep your gear up to date (which it sounds like you are), press your buttons, and things will die. Stick with other people.
If you want easiest, do rdps like squig herder. Then you get to stand far away and shoot people and you also have a ranged pet. They can even play as mdps.

it's okay to be "bad" at the game at first. we were all there at some point, as a new player. on my first character i died so much, i think my KD ratio was like 1 kill to 6 deaths when i reached max lvl. it's normal to experience that, especially if you pick melee dps as your first character.
because it is a pvp focused mmo with many unique classes, builds, strategies, and mechanics such as guard and morales which no other game has this game has a very high knowledge ceiling. few players, even "veterans", know a lot of what there is to learn. you will need to spend at minimum dozens or even hundreds of hours to learn what each class does, both from a friendly and opponent perspective, in order to be able to play with/against them in a proper manner.
choppa is modeled after the "berserker" or "barbarian" thematically, that is to say they deal a lot of damage but also takes a lot more damage than other classes due to their class mechanic. while in combat you gain "rage", at certain breakpoints of rage you get a big flat damage bonus while also receiving a reduction to your armor and resistances. this makes you very squishy and if you do not have a tank guarding you and a healer healing you then you will undoubtedly die very fast. it's meant to be a "berserker" type of class, who can deal high damage but also hurts himself/takes a lot of damage in the process. for these reasons, while it is a very fun class, it may not be suitable for a brand new player.
my best advice would be that if you enjoy the game at a baseline then you should keep trying. you will die a lot at first, probably 10 times for every killing blow you deal. that's fairly normal if you've never played before, or don't have high experience in other pvp games. we have a wealth of guides on the forums (EnC destro guide, Uchoo order guide, Troma performance guide and many others) and in the official RoR discord which can help you to learn the basics of the game. try to ignore those players who are rude to you, because it probably is not your fault if you are struggling. simply you don't have enough experience yet in a game which is dominated by mostly veteran players who have some level of knowledge above your own.
secondly, as other user mentioned, it's strongly recommended that you find a guild. there's many guilds depending on the language(s) you speak which will likely take a new player and give them some opportunity to learn. this will be the best way to play in a proper environment and learn the game. to play only in solo or only in pug groups you will not learn the game the right way and will continue to struggle for longer than necessary.
any player can become good at this game with enough time. the overall skill floor and skill ceiling here is low comparatively to popular mmos like WoW where there are a lot of very skilled players and tryhard. it's also methodical and slow paced, so no need for super fast reaction speed or crazy mechanical skill to become successful. instead it's more about playing proactively and making good decisions. on here is mostly casual players, so you can outplay most of them easily if you dedicate yourself even a little bit. but only if you decide to commit yourself to learning, while not becoming frustrated and blaming others. try talking to strong players to learn, reading up on some guides, finding a guild or teammates to play with and try to play more and more classes on both sides over time to learn as much as you can.

Re: Help pls i S*ck in this game
If you are playing solo you could try rolling a class that is good at soloing, like magus, shaman, arch mage, witch elf, or witch hunter.
Choppa is very much a class that is reliant on a healer and a guard. So if you find yourself a guild that can assist you, you will do a lot better.
The game can be very ver unfair to soloers, so i suggest you find a guild or at least join an open warband.
