What class/role does order need?

Returning after a long hiatus, no max level characters but some mid ranged ones, but I am looking to start over.

Wondering what order needs. I saw the situation with WL, and although I always wanted to play one when the game was live but never did I dont want ot fall into this insane meta and create more bloat for a class there seems to be a lot of.

Back in the day when the game was live I mostly tanked and healed, I remember my favorites being sword master, iron breaker, war priest and arch mage. Im game for whatever though.

In all seriousness - the comment about Tanks and Heals is spot-on. My eyes also glaze over looking at the spikes on the chart, but Tanks who know how to guard and healers who are in heal spec tend to be what most PUG warbands (and often even Org warbands) find themselves in need of the most.

White Lion gets picked a lot (and complained about a lot) because it filled the void left by Slayer when that class got hit with heavy nerfs a while back. Make no mistake, though - White Lion could get nerfed tomorrow and within a month you'd start to see new threads complaining about how overpowered (insert class that killed someone here) is. This is just the natural way of things.

So ultimately, if you want to play White Lion, I'd say go for it. Play whatever speaks to you or looks the most fun. If you want to also be a good team player, it never hurts to level up a Tank or a Healer too, as being able to swap to one of these will make you very useful for guild groups or even semi-org pugs that might run warbands on discord.

Ive been healing most of my MMO career which started in 1998 so im quite comfortable doing it.

This is the only game i ever liked tanking in, but i havent done it since the game was officially live, whenever the heck that way. Id more than likely be rusty and people wouldnt be thrilled with the performance.

Of the three healers, how are they ranked as far as effectiveness/wanted in groups goes?

I remember warrior priest being sought after for their absorbs.

I dont remember what archmage was like with their mechanic when you went full heals.

And I dont remember rune priest having a mechanic.

WP is still the most sought healer, with a focus on party heals, tankyness and utility. AM is focused on ST healing, utility and mobility. RP is a bit of a mix of the other two and it has the most utility.

Buth honestly, ppl will just be happy to be healed. Just choose what looks good to you.

Yes, all three healers are very good. Warrior Priest is generally the best frontline healer, Rune Priest has a new adjustable Ground Rune (you can move this and adjust it periodically like a turret) that pulses heals and customizable buffs, and Archmage remains a fragile but very powerful burst healer with a fair amount of utility / CC options.

Most PUG warbands are just happy to have any healer that actually heals well and can listen, so they probably won't be too picky!

Tanking in this game still remains my favorite of every MMO I've ever played. Being able to actually body block doorways and chokepoints in massive 100+vs100+ fights... some of my favorite moments.
