Is there a particular addon? I've been trying a macro with "/assist" and that hasn't been working out too well. Any thoughts?

if you want to create an assist macro it must be "/assist playername"
i highly recommend swift assist addon though itll allow you to rapidly change your assist macro at the push of a button so you dont have to manually edit it every time your group changes

There is an addon called swiftassist on Idrinth:

It simply makes 2 macros for you. One to set your target as your assist and the secont to target the target of your assist.
Can't get simpler than that.

have an /assist macro in addition to a assist/name or swift assist is the way to go imho.

Swift Assist + Enemy Marks in same button

That combination works best for me, whenever I change assisted person, there is a huge arrow mark via Enemy above that guy, cant miss where you should be when assisting. Remember to change assisted person without having defensive (red target) on, mark will go above your enemy!
Keep in mind so called "performance addon" altering few default RoR modules can bugs out any assist macro. Restart game when it happens, usually just after you log on for 1st time in a day.
