Question about the leveling in the game

Do you really have to PVP to get better at the game ? like your Renown rank do you really have to level it up or can you focus on the PVE ?

Renown Rank unlocks specific gear you can wear, which is typically the gear progression in the game.

You can* level through PvE, and do Beastlord > PvE dungeons but you'll lose out on a lot of stats from spending your Renown points in additional bonus'.

You can pve midday the eau thru the game but end game the pvp gear is the best and it would be a long time to catch up oon if you do 0 pvp up to that point. That said, play how you like though its a game.

Through PvE, you can't really. Renown points are gained through PvP, actions you take killing players / in the orvr lakes, or in scenarios, give Renown XP.

At low level you honestly can't do a whole lot about it besides do scenarios to push through it. The higher your level gets the more toms you will have to combat that

Either side can get some easy Renown Rank by holding Battle Objectives and running supplies When the Dwarf/Greenskin & Elf Paring are unlocked. If you are early to the map, and switch when the map you are on to the new pairing you can "sort of" PVE for your RR

If it's renown you need then join warband if you have few hours to spare or if time's more pressing - scenarios.

You can get a lot of renown and inf (in wb) this way, earn medalions (orvr) or emblems (scs) for your better-than-pve armour sets, get yourself immune to fear of dying and learn little by little how to operate in warband. PUGs may die more often than premades but they are fun and give lots of purple numbers.

However if you want to learn your skills I'd rather recommend trekking lvl-appropriate pve areas to hone your class in safe and predictable environment :)

Some good tips for renown in Tier 1 if you are having problems earning it:

Make sure you join a Warband - Press "L" and look through the list of open WB's with at least 1 free spot in the zone you want to fight in and join.

Once in a WB look for people who are picking up Supplies (small boxes that spawn at the Battle Objective flags) then run with whoever picks it up back to the entrance to the zone where there is a Supply Flag that you right click on to deliver the supplies, rewarding anyone close and in the WB Influence, Renown and XP. When someone picks up supplies they will have a glowy red or blue (depending on faction) effect on them which is easy to spot once you know to look for it.

If you are in a badly 1 sided zone, consider moving to another contested zone if it's open, the RoR_SoR addon (stands for State of Realm) is excellent for keeping track of which zones are open and what status they are at so you can see what zones are likely to suit your preferred play style.

If none are open and your faction is pinned back at the warcamp unable to do much, see if you can get on one of the Canons and rain fire down on them for some kills. But be warned the most effective canons are the "cluster bomb" type ones and aiming them can sometimes be a lil tricky with wind direction and them not always allowing you to shoot at areas you can see enemies. You kinda have to keep moving the firing cross around and using mouse wheel to change distance until it actually fires, but once you get it mastered, oh boy, it can be super fun when they are all clustered up haha.

It's worth focusing on the Influence from each zone, so you can get the rewards which are "blue" quality items and about as good as you can get for the level range w/o busting your gut PVE farming which really isn't worth it for a newer player. Also you can buy renown gear for either Medallions (that you get from the PVP) or with silver, use this to fill in the blanks in your gear, unless you get lucky with drops during the fights which can get you upgrades.

Regarding loot then i advise pressing "L" and going to the Auto-roll tab then selecting Need/greed for most of the options so you don't get bombarded with loot roll pop ups in the middle of a fight which can be distracting, this allows you to auto-roll so you still get the loot, just remember to check your backpack every so often for possible new gear that is worth using.

Hope this helps, GL out there and have fun :)
