hello i was wondering if the game prioritize just the one with the higher value
example i have 30% block 24% parry does it just take only the block chance or does it roll a chance for both ?
and also since str bypass block/parry is it better to stack armor/tough for melee defence?

Re: Block/parry
It first checks for parry, and that only works for melee attacks from your front plus guard damage. Secondly if parry fails or its a ranged or magical attack then it checks for a roll against your block value. Since the vast majority of attacks in rvr is from ranged AoE attacks, a shield is preferable in that area
Re: Block/parry
If it's a melee attack:
- checks for parry -> checks for block
if it's a ranged attack:
- checks for block -> checks for disrupt (magic) or dodge (arrows/shots/bombs)
- checks for parry -> checks for block

Re: Block/parry
Armor is good, but for the most part it's not competing with parry or block in terms of what you can stack.
Toughness will compete with all 3 of the others.

Re: Block/parry
Block is checked first, parry/dodge/disrupt is checked second. In general this only matters if you have an ability that is triggered by ONLY block or ONLY parry/dodge/disrupt.
So in your above example you have a 30% chance to block, 70% chance to not block. Now 70% of the time you do not block, you will parry 24% of those attacks. So you have a 30% chance to block, a 16.8% chance to parry, and a 53.2% chance to be hit.
Strength only bypasses the block given by block rating (found on shields), and the parry given by weaponskill. Strength does NOT bypass bonuses from gear or abilities.

Re: Block/parry
This is the standard avoidance mechanic that was used in WAR too since the beginning.

Re: Block/parry
Could you give pls the formular for the block-strikethrough? As far as I know the parrybonus from WS is something like "(your WS / enemy ST)*7,5", so in most cases almost nonexisting against a capped mdps.
