Spoiler:
I love this game and I don't know if I'll play it again but...
Honestly, who in their right mind would ask a friend to come back to this game?
Gameplay itself is worse than the original. From RvR to PvE, everything is worse. Game is more grindy than the original in renown, experience, and gear. It's just developers trying so hard to control how you progress in every possible way at a snail pace that made this game more boring. Rank caps to hinder even futher. To top it all off, rank resets for no good reason. The one thing I will say that got better was the scenarios, just because they added the pug scenario even though it was late and came after 6v6 scenario I don't know why. The 6v6 scenario was also a good welcome but it was kind of already there in Eternal Citadel.
Most of the staff has been on a high horse power trip. Like nerds who got a taste of power for the first time in their life. They haven't treated their playerbase too kindly and usually post aggressive responses. Like Elven telling non existant complainers to !@#% off and leave if they don't like it. Bans thrown out like candy, and I'm not really talking about me. In general, I spoke up about banned players. I urged for transparency and appeals. They put the worst possible person in charge of appeals instead of someone reasonable like Xypiforgothisname/Github.
Community seemed to trash other players (again, not talking about me) telling them to leave if they don't like something. Other players parroting words of staff like "You're just a tester." You need testers as much as developers. I think that's one thing this community/staff take/took for granted. It was always so cringe to me how disposable players seemed to be to others. The player base was small already, why would you ever ask newer players to leave. There are so many games out there for free or just plain better that players can leave to.
The forums were also pretty restricted, I remember coming on here and almost every single thread in /general was locked. Aggressive responses for fair questions were not cool. Really horrid moderation like Penril, who I thought was cool but ended up mimcing staff by threatening to lock a thread because someone was being insulting. I Pm'd him asking him why not just warn them and edit their post and locking the thread. He said I was right but didn't edit his post when asked. Things like this were common last I was on here.
Game seems to be going downhill in every way.
It's something I could endure for the love of the game but it's not something I could ask someone else to support.
