I think one of the bigger issues is that the climax (as in city captures) is just missing.

And, taking into account that AOR is a heavyily group oriented game, society just has changed the last 10 years to be even more egozentric ...

Dont forget that WAR for last year had quite small community too. Part of that small amount came back to RoR cause many had progressed IRL, got married, have had children, graduated, got job etc. On other hand there is almost no income of new players that didnt hear about WAR. Small dev team doing great job ressurecting dead horse, but they cant do everthing. I just wish there was someone who would make RoR project more friendly for new players. Every day there are questions in /advice chat about basic stuff like removing Emote addon square out of UI, combat bug, class archetypes.

some issues will drastically ease when we have a real installation tool, it boggles me how many people have issues with even installing the game.

Dragaz wrote:there are multiple reasons for the ongoing population-shrinkage. i believe the main reasons are as followed:

- you have multiple people reporting a bad behavior of the dev team on huge platforms such as youtube and facebook. a shitstorm is never unheeded and is usually followed by a whole series of consequences. a youtube video with 7k views and multiple facebook post with ~100 posts are quite a lot - considering the rather small population of RoR.

- the competitive scene died with the banhammer of June 2016 when the dev team decided to observe a third medium such as Twitch.tv and implement a rule which would allow them to ban people for trashtalking in their own environment (retroactive). the result was a huge outcry and a banhammer which affected multiple guilds:
  • + critical acclaim (disbanded)
    + enigma (disbanded)
    + KappaPride (disbanded)
    + Red Guard (partially disbanded)
    + Fusion (partially disbanded)
The lack of certain people did not just kill guilds by itself but was also the reason to make other guilds stop playing as they had nobody to measure their skill with any longer. Nowadays you have guilds like krautcontrol & LoB dominating the battlefield. considering they were literally a non-factor during 2016, it is obvious that you won't find (new) people forming serious groups, neither will you attract skilled players to return. the community changed to be rather super small scale and make use of the new implemented solo queue which totally supports the casual gameplay.

- oRvR: the oRvR changes did often suffer from bugs and unbalanced circumstances which forced huge RvR guilds to leave. the 2 best examples would be Porn Factory and Kings Own. Those guilds were dominating the RvR like crazy and are missed badly.

- balance changes: with the release of T4 and the balance forums multiple changes were implemented. one did completely rework a class which was loved by many: the DoK/WP. many people were not satisfied and did simply not agree with those changes and the way RoR takes.

- on top of that you had a large DDOS attack followed by a new server and the lack of progression, which for some people seems to be mandatory.
watched this video and people should make their own opinion of what the guy tells them there.

Big problem to solve indeed. Lots of people want to be rewarded for their efforts. And they feel it is to slow currently. They are wrong IMO (renown and medallions when you are offline was so great idea). So they choose not to take more efforts. Sign of time I think.

Also currently end game is locking zone. And all we know it's not a real end game. So some prefer wait until it will be implemented.
Zerging is also a problem. I log out Wednesday UE prime time when Order zerg Caledor. That was definition of "unfun". Also try to avoid Destro zerg. And sometimes this strategy give me great fights (like last night in TM :) ). But I understand people who stop playing because of this. Note that I value the last implementations of oRvR system. I feel that I have those fun fights because there is more incentive to go in small group. And Zerg... you have "respawn" button to deal with that :D

Besides there are many new players out there (anyone notice how many new topic in "introduce yourself" forum?). Sometimes when I read advise chat I am stunned. "Man, how you can not know this?!!!" And second later... " You didn't know this also when you started". And if no one will tell them what to do they will come after what is most visible. And this is huge blob of PUG warband. Simple.

Yesterday, when west cost end his activity, I had thanks from a WH. For great hunting fight on Praag (me and my friend against him and his friend). I can hate him on role-play level but respect him as a player. We need more players like him and this project will be here for very long time. Cheers :)

Fusion died when we started accepting to many randoms that never grouped or used voice comms. They were only grinding pve or joining pug wbs. Most of core members haven't played that much due rl stuff (work, uni etc..). Accepting randoms was the result in guild spliting in 2 guilds (Praedonius).

LoB was always a good guild and they are rly friendly.

Real life is getting in the way for me, but there are other factors as well:

- Kings Own disbanding and now nobody ever online in Aftershock
- Not really fun to play a tank solo (y main is SM) or in a PUG WB
- End-game is a zone-lock at the moment, which is a shame

I don't care much about the lack of gear or RR progression, purple numbers should just be a side-effect of having fun.

I do rather enjoy the new RvR system as it creates long and epic battles for a zone. What's really missing for me is the feeling of the campaign, and forcing people in a single zone makes it a bit too zergy which is not very friendly to more or less unguilded solo players like me.

I also think a lot of the balance changes annoyed people. Most of them were valid (i.e. proc meta, pulling WP/DOK in line what they were meant to be, toning KOTBS/Chosen/Sorc/BW somewhat down - albeit not enough), but for people that are used to having played OP classes for all of WAR and RoR it may has come as a shock that they weren't as good as they thought they were and subsequently threw a hissy-fit and left.

i am whether a part of fusion nor the family related to it. hence why i don't know the exact reasons behind your split - thanks for the insight. what i know for sure is that certain people of your guild lost their ambition to fight serious after enigma left. i'm sure peter will confirm that if you ask him.

also, this shouldn't be a part of the discussion as it is some kind of derail.

that is your opinion. i never said krautcontrol wouldn't be friendly either.

I was told I have to be salty over the proc changes. I'm terribly sorry I can't be friendly for the next couple of weeks.

Maybe I should write a guild thread about krautcontrol. For some reason people put us in the competitive guild corner. Actually we're just a bunch of zerg leechers who also do scenarios and 6vs6 if we're bored.
