Best advice - get a guild, good one, with groups running few days a week, then pick a class. There is no more frustrating like mdps try run solo scenario or rvr. Some like that kind of challenge, but real WAR experience comes in group play. I learnt it the hard way.

For an organized 6 man, marauder

For an organized 24 man, sorc

For solo roaming/pugging scenarios, squig herder (mara or sorc is higher dps but you will not survive long enough without focused heals to take advantage of it)

Thats it. Not to say that other classes don't have their uses, but if you want to be the top dps in a given situation, you will be playing one of those three.

Witch Elves can tear up DPS but you have to be very good at the class, or else you will get screwed.

Maguses can net absurd damage totals, but only in sustained damage situations.

Marauder can be great solo, just roam the PvP lakes for 1v1's. Ezpz renown. Scenarios, not so fun solo though.

Marauder is the most fun mdps to play IMO, and groups will want you because they put all the best debuffs on one class hehe. Solo queuing as melee dps can be rough, but marauder is decent at solo roaming in rvr, so there's that.

Choppa, because:

-cool class mechanic
-easy to play (if i can be decent, you can as well)
-get to the choppa is op (shhhh)
- YER ORC, SO COME ABOARD AN JOIN DA FREEBOOTAZ! WAAAAGH!!!

On a serious note, the choppa is good in group and solo. You have a multitude of usefull abilities like 2 specced healdebuffs (incomming and outgoing, though the outgoing needs a 2h wep for it), 100% crit reduct debuff, 100 ap restore on hit and a specced damage heal channeled ability.

If you still cant decide just make one of each dps ur interested in and lvl then to r10 or watch some YT vids (just note that most of the people in the vids are rr80+ so thats why they rekk other players with somewhat ease)

Sorc without question. Remember there is no trivial blows so all your crits will do massive amounts of damage.

Hijacking, but what about for Order if I wanted to play a melee that is good solo and good in groups? I was thinking SM or WL.
