Hi. I have played probably more than 75% of all mmorpgs ever to exist. I have only pvped twice, when I first started WoW in 2005. I hate pvp, I just suck at fighting real humans, but being 42, I decided I would like to try out new ways of playing. I always thought the warhammer world was awesome.
So my question is, what class would you say would be good for a new player and someone who has never really pvped and is probably terrible at it and will probably get hate at first? I do prefer melee, doesn't matter if tank or dps. I will play any other role though if you think it is better.
I am in california, US if that also helps. Thank you for all the help!
(Yes I joined here in march 2023, but I never actually played. Scared off by the pvp, but wanna give it a go :/)

Re: Class for someone who hates pvp
You can start with a (casting) healer class, your only real pvp action with enemy players will be detaunting then.
There are melee-focused healers as well, but they are harder to play and get into.
Join open parties and warbands as much as possible to learn mechanics and party interactions.
You'll also join the starters guild right away and can always ask your questions in /g as well as /ad (advice) chat. Usually there are many helpful players around.

Re: Class for someone who hates pvp
The easiest to get into are probably knight and chosen since they have an easy mechanic and an all around useful toolkit that's nearly mandatory for every type of content. Also they are tanks so you wont die as fast if you find yourself out of position.
Easy mode list:
Arch mage/shaman (ranged - dps spec)
Marauder/white lion (mdps)
Knight/chosen (tank)
Witch hunter/witch elf (rogue)

Re: Class for someone who hates pvp
If you never played pvp and/or you are new player:
Your first class has to be a tank to survive, be alive enoff time to learn.
Kotbs the tankiest tank, there is a newplayer friendly regen reflect build.
Chosen the second.
Do not create dps or healer, you will die very fast and you wont learn anything, you will ragequit.
With a tank you have a good chamce to find a guild who can help and teach you and you will have a lot of friends. There are pve in this game too and tanks always needed there too.

It kind of depends on what made you dislike pvp over the years.

Re: Class for someone who hates pvp
Once you start playing PvP on this server, you'll be even more afraid of it due to the toxicity of most of the community. )) Try playing the class that you find most interesting. You can create multiple characters at once to try out different classes.Kinvesu wrote: Mon Oct 13, 2025 4:48 am Hi. I have played probably more than 75% of all mmorpgs ever to exist. Hating PvP in a PvP based game is a real issue. Yes, you can level up thru PvE dungeons up to Dark Promise gear, but what than? Running all those dungs over and over again?
There are gMMORPGs, that has far better PvE part of the game.

I think it's just that, I am just not good at predicting real people. I can learn to fight npcs right. I can learn their moves and when they do them and how to counter, pretty set in stone for the most part. I find a real person is just so much harder. My hands get sweaty, I get too nervous that I am gonna screw up, then I do screw up and just die over and over and then it's not really fun.shoelessHN wrote: Mon Oct 13, 2025 7:24 am It kind of depends on what made you dislike pvp over the years.
