Is this game solo friendly or nah?

Hello! I never played this game before, but I was looking for a new MMO P server, and I found this one. It looks kind of good. My question is, how solo-friendly is it for PVE? Like, does it have matchmaking for dungeons, etc.? Also, is the PvP optional? I'm no much into PvP, tbh.

This game is PVP, and you can enjoy it solo, in duos, trios, 6-man teams, as well as in WB. The PvE is complementary but with a unique setting that is worth visiting.

If you want to play mainly PvE, you can choose self-sufficient classes (a tank or a WP/Dok) that allow you to explore the world and complete hundreds of quests. You're sure to have fun.

For dungeons, you absolutely must have a group. First, watch a video with a dungeon guide and read the guides you find on wiki ror/forum etcc.. Don't worry about asking for info when you're in a party.

Don't listen to those WB puggers who want everyone to press three buttons in warbands. One day, you might enjoy PvP and, with your party or on your own, you'll farm them as they run with their skirts up from the warcamp to their WB after respawning.

Don't give up, wh fantasy world is amazing (greenskin quests are the funniest in all game anyway).

Game is fine for solo, as long as you aren't afraid of pixel death.

As mentioned above, warrior priest/dok is an excellent choice for solo. And there are a couple of dungeon bosses you can solo.

Game is great solo, you can level up by solo queuing SCs, id say the SC experience levelling to 40 is better than SCs at 40 and by some margin.

In terms of the rvr lakes, ive exclusively solo roamed all my chars to rr80, if you pick up a solo capable class and build, its some of the best fun in any MMO ever. As fun as the Lone Enforcer grind in DAOC if you played it (which I also exclusively solo roamed in).

You also get that warm feeling that you're not zerging like the sheeple

If you want solo pvp, I'd recommend going for wh/we, WL, dps RP/zeal, dps AM or magus.

You do need to be able to take a punch, put the ego to 1 side, as you will turn a corner into a WB/6 man etc - but hey at least you're getting your renown from duels rather than 24v1s.

I would say it can be solo friendly.

However not all classes are made equally. Currently the solo classes are very boring dot healers who all play identically, and a plague of witch elves with new vehement blades and double jump that 1 shot everyone and are over tuned. Other classes like engineer or shadow warrior could do with getting more roaming tools

On topic answer - how solo friendly is it in PvE:

Not really unless Public Quests and leveling process of 1-40 ( renown level is the real level here and it is only through PvP all the way to lvl 80).

Dungeons and ward unlock for gear progression requires full groups like in other MMO'S.

Offtopic following the derailed discussion:

RoR is hostile towards the solo pvp exerpience but ironically the balanceteam keeps overbuffing certain classes like Witch Elves(seems like the fotm dev love project at this moment) with the outcome of solo prowess, etc making the general experience miserable for the average/casual/new player alike ( especially on the order side since WH are easier to handle and overall a weaker class in this context)

The server is swarmed with these hence it can feel very toxic at times due to these classes polluting the rvr lakes alongside their dot/healer/dps classes, especially at NA times when not that much blobing is going on and more small scale confrontations are inevitable, this is where the neglect of the small scale balance truly shows.

So, unless you an old timer/geared player ( a minority, most it seems would quit before reaching this point hence player retention will be poor for casuals who dont like to blob up in mindless AOE spam gameplay) or you dont mind learning through a lot of suffering, then it is not recommended at all, find yourself another game or wait until the balanceteam starts to consider that there might be more sides to the game players enjoy than the blob fiestas.

P.S. The team is doing a decent job with the PvE side of the game, adding new content & gear and so if you enjoy PvE and do not mind grouping up( it's 6 players only). PQ's (public quests) can be relaxing to solo with once you get the hang of it ( just avoid certain classes like Bright Wizards/Sorcs since they have little sustain ).

This is a pvp game at heart, but has added pve activities. PVE is not possible solo. And pvp is possible, but not solo friendly at all. Every patch they release makes solo pvp gameplay worse and worse.
1. The game encourages group play and blobbing.
2. Because of 1 you will hardly encounter solo players and will die a lot to groups and blobs that are willing to run out of the pvp map just to hunt you down.
3. The game is not balanced around solo play so there are matchups that you cant win no matter how skilled you are.

If you still want to play solo i would recommend either WE or WH both very strong for solo play. WE has defregen build which is no risk at all. If you want ranged Magus. Other than these, dps healers are also super strong for solo like shaman, archmage, zealot. Of course you can make every class work however the above classes are really strong and have more tools to make solo life easier.
