I'm new to this game and finding it incredibly fun and enjoyable.
I understand that Tank/DPS/Healer (2/2/2) is the standard setup for Careers. I also understand that Careers not needed in PUGs get kicked.
But please stop kicking players below level 33 midway through WB pickup groups. Please recruit players level 34 or above from the start. We've been playing together for about two hours. Please stop changing the requirements midway through a public WB. It makes me feel very sad.

Open Warbands are fluid beings, changing and morphing as players come, go, or get kicked to make room for those of higher rank. Your request, while understandable, runs counter to a state of existence which simply is, just as Sydney Sweeney is, and Alma Cogan isn't.

I agree with you. Even me, a veteran player get bitter when get in "open" warband and get kicked by autoband or worse, to make room for higher level players or guild friends of the leader. Some guys that play the role of wb leader don't know well how "open" wbs works. And for new players, being kicked for no reason from an "open" wb is a invite to leave the game, because it's very frustrating.

Your signature pretty much discribes the current state of RoR (at least for me).Martok wrote: Tue Sep 09, 2025 1:53 pm Open Warbands are fluid beings, changing and morphing as players come, go, or get kicked to make room for those of higher rank.

Re: Don't kick people out midway in the WB pickup group
I do feel your pain, we all do.
However tho, im not new to this game, but what i do when i a) have no friends to play with b) leveling something that is not fitting very well for leeching or zergsurfing or solo roaming c) its off hours, e.g. EU lunch time d) i need orvr on alt for genesis - i do just create myself open wb, no voice, close to no coordination, awful, total pug, no autoband, absolutely nothing.
I dont type much in chat, i dont give a flying f*k if people follow or not, i bother only to manually fix groups. Dont be afraid even as newcomer to do that, if you cant effectively zergsurf/leech/solo by yourself then better just do that. Dont even bother to think of actually putting any efforts trying to lead such ragtag "wb". But you may get a guard, or ocassional heal, or some additional DPS into yours.
The only possible tactic for such ragtag is to bite in some bigger fights of other pug vs pug wbs and/or hunt lower number groups. If you move somewhat decently in a zone and dont stand at one spot being farmed by proper 6men+, then people will tag along. There will be folks who may struggle to hop in discord in that exact moment, have got like ~30-50 minutes to play or whatever other "casual things" could be reasons.
Try it out, just dont expect anything and dont bother putting efforts yourself.
Herding pugs in this game is just most thankless job one can ever imagine.
P.S. another thing is join some serious guild and get trained there, but you have to have serious intentions yourself tho. decide for yourself

The way I read this is, the point of you running an open warband is to increase the chance you may get some occasional boost from those who happen to join up, and all other considerations are whatever man.
Feel free to correct me if I am wrong.

Nopes, you read it right. Selfish? Yes. Whatever? Yes. But why not? Man its the game overall, you need to experience good feelings of playing. If i happen to want to play, but all other ingame odds are against me then i do honestly believe that changing an attitude into "oh, let it be" is the best bet.Martok wrote: Tue Sep 09, 2025 4:20 pmnocturnalguest wrote: Tue Sep 09, 2025 3:49 pmI dont type much in chat, i dont give a flying f*k if people follow or not, i bother only to manually fix groups. Following my advice is not ideal for total newcomer, cause exact experience will depend if you know the map, know what fight to pick etc. But its still better then run around the map alone on cr26 SnB tank and trying to do something in a "fight" you happen to see on your screen.
Why i recommend "put no efforts". Its very simple, if you put effort you will expect results, but to reach results you need much more then only your efforts. Then you will see people ignore you, not follow, dont assist etc - you will automatically be nervious. Better be calm and happy
