Tanks, Returning Question

I am simply wondering how all six of the tanks are doing in general currently? I haven't played in a good year or more at this point, so I am just wondering how they hold up both in RvR, BG's and PvE.

Probably a fairly loaded question and I'm sure the short answer is they are all fine, but I'm just curious from people who play them how they are feeling currently. Thanks.

I only play BO, but from my point of view they are all fine and viable.

Every single tank can do PvE perfectly fine. PvE in this game is pretty easy, all tanks can hold aggro fine, all tanks can build up enough avoidances and armor to survive all content.

In SnB, all tanks are fine and viable for large scale. Again, they can all build their defences high enough to survive, they can all guard, they all provide a reasonable amount of utility to their groups. Chosen / KoBS seem to have a minor edge as their auras are quite powerful (and require no skill), but they're all fine. IBs seem to be able to reach ungodly amounts of survivability that i don't think any other tank can reach.

The biggest differences come between 2h specs.

Some tanks (chosen and swordsmaster in particular) feel like they're a lot stronger in 2h specs than the other tanks. They can remain very tanky whilst also being able to do decent amounts of damage. Other tanks (like my own BO) give up a ton of utility and a fair amount of survivability in order to do some damage.

So, it really depends on what sort of content you plan on doing. The more large scale content you do, the more you'll want to remain in SnB, in which case all tanks are good.

If you prefer smaller scale, there are some definite winners and losers. For example, in a 6v6 situation or smaller, you really don't need the survivability offered by SnB, you will serve your friends better by being able to do more damage to help burn people down. If you can do that damage whilst still retaining survivability and utility (like a chosen) then you're friends are gonna be happy!

final note tho: even tho there are bigger difference in 2h specs, that doesn't mean any of them are not viable. you can still have a lot of fun with all tanks.

Fantastic, it is basically what I suspected was the case and I tend to enjoy IB, BO, SM and BG as my tank options. I didn't really find the Knight or Chosen that thrilling over-all.

Glad to hear that they all remain viable and solid choices at all given moments across the board.

I also tend to favor SnB although I do like using 2Hand for SM and BG on occasion, very cool stuff. Glad to know things are still solid despite it having been some time. Thanks again.

If you are playing order, personally I would reccomend SM over IB at the moment. IB is great, but SM is very strong currently.
