Certain items or abilities causing a gcd make the game feel unresponsive. The gcd change to 1,5s was fine and reasonable to have skill triggering at best on defined intervals, not related on your ping. Apparently potions can't be taken off gcd in the current code, they might have done it by now.

I would like to once again point out Omegus' write-up regarding the issues of the old GCD system:
viewtopic.php?f=42&t=48309&p=511560#p511549

From my understanding of it, the previous GCD wasn't system wasn't 1 second. It was anything between 1.1 and 1.5 seconds depending on timing, lag and other things. While it is now guaranteed to be 1.5 seconds now with the new system, the change wasn't that significant as people claim it to be (1s to 1.5 seconds). On average it should have been ~1.3 s before and also had a lot more issues such as no queuing.

I appreciate the input, however it sounds like the ability queuing couldve just been implemented for that 1.1 system to remedy that aswell then. And a change of 0.2-0.3 is quite significant either way, especially over the course of say 4 GCDs thats on average an extra GCD put in there for free. Over the course of a fight depending if youre a tankier build or nrot a fight can last what, 25-30 GCDs? That could be, on average 6.5-7.5 Seconds worth of ability usage youre losing out on in a fight, which is a very large deal in the scheme of things. Doesnt sound much when you only look at it from the initial perspective and not the perspective of a fight, much longer if youre doing a 6 man fight that can last upwards of minute + you are losing out on dozens of seconds worth of ability casts

However Ive moved this discussion into viewtopic.php?f=15&t=56159 in an attempt to reach a middleground of faster gameplay without the compromise of GCD, once again thank you !

I'd support something that made damage high in 6man / sc / solo.
It is far too hard to get a kill there vs healers

I agree. Removing the GCD from the use of some of these items or abilities makes sense and would benefit play for the player base at large. Which is why it will never happen.

I agree with this post revert, revert, revert. my toons feel weak and slow. i hate waiting for my spell to come off GCD. lol man that's just a game killer... but then again who plays this, not 1k people that's for sure. reason i just come in to see and read drama and hope this gets better. but no chance, like ever.

I'm totally fine with the 1.5 GCD personally, and having read the devs reasoning, it all makes sense to me. I think there is also an additional benefit that hasn't been mentioned yet: server performance. Servers already struggle when there's lots of stuff happening, imagine if we were all using 30% more skills with a quicker GCD!!!

To me, WAR (and all tab-target games) are based around tactical combat. Success or failure is about the choices we make around skill use, and not about the physical actions we make (like how quickly we can hit buttons). A slower GCD increses the importance of correct skill choice and group coordination.

If regen feels too strong because of a slower GCD, that can be much more easily balanced compared to reverting the whole game to 1.1s GCD. I dont think it is too strong personally, I much prefer longer fights, but I can understand why others might think that way.

Where I do agree is taking potions and morales, and maybe interupts, off GCD. Definitely morales, preferably interupts.

With potions, taking them off GCD is a bit of a cointoss. As it stands, its a tactical decision whether to use a potion or not. If potions are off GCD, then it's not a tactical choice, you simply use a potion as soon as u need it with minimal consequences. That then benefits those of us who are rich enough / have crafters to have all the right potions, and would also benefit those who use addons like sequencer, as they can then push one button and use all their pots instantly.
