I think the replayability value of creating new characters is decent already for the exerpienced player, the issue is that since RoR has such a thin endgame at the moment, speeding up the progression should only come with an increased endgame challenge, especially the best gear tier need to be affected by it. Increasing the reward without addressing the current state of the stale RvR campaign ( which is the main game) game is a huge mistake.wonshot wrote: ↑Thu Jun 20, 2024 3:20 pm Probably not many will agree with my take,
But the more you speed up the progression the better the game & replayability needs to be to keep you entertained when progression is overwith.
Because the moment a player reaches max RR and Best in Slot gear, the RoR trend seems to be that most players will reroll and chase the dopamin hits again instead of using the minmaxed gear advantage. Yes some stay, but most will reroll eventually and reenter the hamsterwheel of progression step by step.
IF progression was rapidly sped up, that would feel nice! but it would also just speed up the pase of how fast majority would just reroll and go again.
I do think that Renown was overly nerfed in the summer '21. And there is room for newer players getting into better equipment and standing a more evenfighting chance in for example Vanq gear. Gear pieces dropping in rvr goldbags again is a big step towards that, same as getting wards from Midtier PQs, zonebags, and dungeons.
Crest gain can be sped up by joining succesful guilds, groups, parties and you can progress it via the Weekly orvr no matter if you are in green or BiS for either mass murdering or running boxes. Weekend warfronts is dize roll unless you form a 6man yourself, and you can just queue for Discordant if you are solo and want to not face premades.
Otherwise you will end up like these high dopamin- little effort modern games.
It is a terrible, terrible idea. The purpose to grind a bis toon should not be to feed alts.IvanWarhammer wrote: ↑Fri Jun 21, 2024 2:27 amThis is an amazing idea, this gives a good reason to actually continue playing a main after achieving everything! Maybe being able to mail crests between characters?
1) Super unfair to every new player wanting to try out the game. How could they ever compete to ''new characters'' with an unlimited supply of war crests to feed their progress?
2) The sense of character progression would be completely eliminated. The whole point of creating a character in a mmo(rpg) is to earn your rewards through efforts, e.g known as character development.
3) It sounds to me you want to turn an older mmo into instant gratification games such as Diablo 3? Nop thanks.
