[WH] Witch Hunter General's Compendium (WH Guide)

Hi all.

For a while now I have been working slowly on a WH guide which has been available via the Retribution/WH Anon guild discords or myself sharing it with players who I help personally. As the Retribution discord's class resource channels has been recently opened to the public and my guide has reached a point of completion and fine tuning where I am comfortable with sharing it I will now be sharing it here so more can check it out. Please be sure to read the first few paragraphs and disclaimer carefully. Enjoy the guide and have fun on the battlefield.

"You're approaching the Sovereign Promised land now. This is when I truly felt powerful on my WH. I was able to 1v1 players in full bis of all classes, feasting on 8k+ renown ticks from solo kills, killing enemies 1v2 and 1v3. You're ready to step into the Promised Land. Just a bit to go."

That being very optimistic, when speaking vs players actually specced for solo, unless it is from a very long time ago. Don't remember running into any WH who actually gave me any trouble solo unless I made a mistake, for a long time.
"Can we play with him, master? He seems so unhappy. Let us help him smile. Please? Or at least let us carve one on his face when he stops screaming."

Hi, thanks for your comment. It is true that this particular statement of the guide was written during the time of pre-ability rework when WH was a lot more powerful than it is currently in solo and 1vX. However I believe what is written is still true today and you can 100% do the things mentioned in that paragraph with WH. It is still very possible to beat all classes (but maybe not all players/builds) in 1v1 even though some may be harder than others. Regardless, I will still make some edits in the future.

What talismans do you recommend?

Hi, thanks for your question.

Strength 99% of the time. There is some option with endgame sets and I'm still trying to figure out a good way to list it. Basically rule of thumb is Strength in all slots. In coordinated endgame w/ certain gear setups if you manage to hit the softcap (1050) via KOTBS aura or WP Strength buff in your groups often enough then you can slot Wounds/Weapon Skill talisman to avoid wasting stats but typically you won't have this situation often enough for you to want to stray from full Strength talismans. For the Soulstone Talisman in Sentinel/Ranked Rings use +4% Melee Critical Strike Chance.

I've incorporated a small section close to the top of the guide regarding talismans.

Nice guide! Seems pretty helpful, but I do have a question, as I did not see it covered in the guide (but if it is and I missed it, apologies). Do you have any tips for a parry/crit build, using Confession and Judgement trees, with a few points into Inquisition?

Hi, thanks for reading. I'm not sure what kind of build you have in mind that would utilize all 3 trees at once - such a thing would be kind of hard to do due to mastery point/tactic constraints. If you are looking for a build that has a lot of focus on parry and crits I would recommend the Dragon Gun Absolution Spam build listed in my guide. Renown Points = 4Crit, 4Parry, 2FS or 3Crit, 4Parry, 3FS.

With this build you have access to a lot of parry via Repel Blasphemy/Renown Points/Confusing Movements M1 (12 seconds of 100% parry between Repel and M1, with M1 being reached very fast due to Dragon Gun's morale pump) and a focus on critical strikes via Atonement and Fanatical Cleansing tactics. In BiS gear with this build you're having around 55-65+% crit chance on Absolution and 32-40% base depending on your gear mix. In the 5sov/4tri typical BiS mix I have 41% passive parry chance and 36% crit chance unbuffed, fully buffed in typical 6man SC party with an IB and kotbs debuffing a target you'd reach 60%+ passive parry and 58%+ crit chance/80%+ on Absolution.
