What is the best build that lets a slayer be more of a bruiser and less dependent on his party in order to survive?
Obviously impacting his damage but up to an extent
Thank you

Re: [slayer] survivability build
There is no "build" for that.
You have Rune of Absorbtion in the Trollslayer Tree. That is basically it.
You obviously want dualwielding for the extra 10% parry ( and all the other benefits).
You have Ancestral Inheritance and Stoutness of Stone as Tactic choices.
Stoutness is really great in certain situations.
You can and should spec defensive renown abilities (Futile Strikes,...)
You have your defensive M1s.
You have a short AoE detaunt.
Charge away.
Make good use of enervating blow.
Have a good potion economy.
But the most important thing is situational awareness and positioning.
Don't get caught in red or you are dead.
If you really want to bend the class there is defensive gear to do that.
In theory you can also take "Takin' chances".

Re: [slayer] survivability build
There isn't much of difference compared to AoE build. Your must brings are still going to be Brute Force and Wild Gambit. After that you have two float tactics.
For solo I would recommend taking Stoutness of Stone in order to shorten Mara/WE knockdowns and stuns. The last one can be Jagged Edge, Ancestral Inheritance, Flanking, or push for more. I usually stick to Jagged Edge in all game modes but to each their own.
Brynnoth Goldenbeard (40/80) (IB) -- Rundin Fireheart (40/50) (RP) -- Ungrinn (40/40) (Engi)-- Bramm Bloodaxe (40/83) (Slayer) and a few Empire characters here or there, maybe even an elf.

Use Aura addon to control your rage and see if you are doted by specific nasty spells or detaunted, stick to Rune of Absorption build.

Re: [slayer] survivability build
Until you ding 40 and can equip everything, dont worry about Ws too much.
After that, I would say commit to get your str over 900 before worrying about WS. Even with slightly subpar strength, decent weaponskill can give you a boost. Once you have genesis bonus, beastlord _ whatever RvR gear you have, and subjagator weapons you should be sitting pretty good strength wise.
Once you get full conq gear you should have a combination of pots, set bonuses, jewels, and weapons that will get you pretty close to 1050 and you can go for all WS talis. This really starts to shine with Full Vanquisher and then Invader.
