What about adding a buff to the horned Squig meaning that while you have it out your bal is converted to strength, ranged power to melee power, ranged crit to melee crit?

Yes but since not all melee skills are usable in SA having the buff tied to SA seems slightly reductive maybe SA could just give a flat stat bonus say 160 toughness and perhaps some strength. Also basing the buff on horned would give some nice counter play and give people a reason to focus the squig which in turn would make tastes like chicken, and farty squig more useful.

Squig Armor increases Strength, Wounds, and Toughness by 120 in addition to converting your ranged stats from gear to melee. Gas pet (soon horned) provides our armor buff plus it's a chunk of our dps, soon our source of sever blessing, and you can't use Git Em, disarm, Run Away without one, giving people plenty of reason to kill it. Tying our ranged to melee stat conversion to it would make us useless when our pet dies and force us to either take the no CD pet tactic or switch to ranged for 30 seconds constantly.

Ok but SA will soon also reduce hornys CD to 15s so you've basically got to survive for 15s when he dies. If your quick you can get your pet disarm off just before he dies (or farty) SA provides Kaboom + Bounce and you could try kite etc.

Anyway this probably belongs in the balance forum not derailing this thread ;)
lets just say this reworks got me excited to play SH again.
