[SH]Feel very weak at level 9

I'm only level 9 and it seems like every balanced PVE fight is a close one. With all of the mobs around it feels a bit sketchy to kite too much. Also the squigs never hold aggro and I just saw a guide saying to use the gas squig in that case for the extra armor so maybe that will help.

I've never felt this wimpy at a low level while leveling in an MMO. The relatively fast respawns in empty zones doesnt help either. I did read somewhere that SH isn't a great 1v1 class but I'm sure I'm doing some stuff wrong.

On a side note, there's a skill trainer with two squig skills, i click train but they never do and I don't see them as options for my squig ala wow hunter pet skills that you can set to auto or turn off.

any suggestions are appreciated

First of, why are you even bothering with PvE in this game?
Also, ranged SH is all about kiting, so you should train that a bit if you think it's needed.
Grind until level 10 to have the spiked squig, which will help you with your DPS quite a lot (+5% ranged crit chance, auto attacks on the move, and the pet own attacks).
SH is a great 1v1 class. Not WH or WL great, but still.

Ok that's my last video, but I think you will learn a little if you watch it.
You don't have to buy your class skill in this game (or the pet skills), they are automatically and freely given to you when you level up. But you will still need to spec your build and RvR renown at a trainer.

I'm doing PVE to see the story. I've switched to chosen for now and it's much easier. I may retry SH at a later time

You are doing something wrong, mob should not even touch you, snare and spam mono button on the move attack while moving.
Keep in ming tanking prowless is always gear dependant if you hace lv 5 gear no back, no helm at lv 9 you will see the difference.

Snare is 20 second cooldown in Squig herder instead of the 15 second Shadow warriors one is.

The snare is not ready for fluidly pve grind, makes you wait 5 seconds each mob...i noticed that leveling both classes, the diference in those 5 seconds is noticeable even when on paper shouldn't be that huge.

For pve exploration, the melee path and Squig armor are enough or even better.
Mix the Squig armor with 14 points área damage ability and the 120 Self heal tactic each 5 seconds + some parry renow spent and the PVE exploration will be much easier.

All core abilities are learned automatically. Squiq abilitea you can’t learn cause they are for your Squiq. Summon the squiq and you will see they have the abilities. It’s just a bug.

And lvl 9 squishy RDPS are a little weak. Yea, tanks can mob easier. Melee healers fan mob even easier than that. Just how the game works. Get a few more lvls and things will get easier. You just don’t have the abilities needed yet, you will though. SHs are a lot of fun, don’t give up!

You have to take a tactic on SW for the snare to have a 15 sec CD otherwise it is the same as SH.

Funny thing is you can kite heroes and thereby solo many pqs on the SH. No point trying that on tanks ;)

I think you may be mistaken, at least none of the pets tool tip abilities state they snare. I thought the difference was always because herders have pets in general. I am curious :)
