Pretty much this. Being able to perform exceedingly well in keep sieges against unguarded and unhealed solo players is hardly indicative of anything other than playing to the strengths of the class (range advantage) in chaotic environments.

assume all have guard and heal.
sniper side guard and heal can do other things until sniper's in danger.
3 players of opposite side are pinned by 1 sniper.
large scale is not always bomb, nor red chasing like 6man.
it's about how to distribute numbers, and where to.
you call 6 snipers holding 18 players counter?

The game isn't balanced around 1v1. There are a variety of classes that excel on their own/are more self-sufficient than others; Magus/Engi is no exception to this.

The moment you bring group/warband into the equation (as you should when balancing), this advantage is all but moot. If you want to be a solo pleb that allows a Magus/Engi to freecast on you with 8 stacks...you do you.
