Agree, wish I could disable antivirus (that I don't have) or could (carelessly?) run game as root.

FHilton wrote: Wed May 06, 2020 4:39 pm I just disabled my Anti Virus Protection "Kasperky Internet Security" temporarily and started the launcher again.
After that I got the Updates to run and can now connect to RoR :)
Awesome! Thank you! :D
Nonetheless this is weird since I white listed the launcher... I should have another look into those rules.

having same issue under linux. tried to give volume label and serial for the drive i have the game. both with gparted on linux and via winecfg for the "so called" windows drives, but doesnt seem to work.

cant get the process ID seems to be the culprit.
the change for windows users where they dont need to run as admin, might have something to do with the breakage under linux... trying to investigate more :(

Just a semi-stupid question here: was the .NET framework requirement changed for the launcher during this last update?
I know it uses .NET framework and I am not 100% sure this is the case, but I am opened to trying anything ;)

Can confirm this worked for me also
This has not sorted the issue for me :(

I hope this helps because I do not have any entries before the update. All I can do is guess that the code that handled the startup of War64.exe was changed and that somehow broke the Linux players.

fixme errors are pointless :)
those don't block from launching

i tried with lower privileges as wine defaults to "run as administartor" windows permissions with your normal user.
tried running with

Code: Select all

wine runas /trustlevel:0x20000 RoRLauncher.exe
now i dont get

Code: Select all

wine: Read access denied for device L"\\??\\Z:\\", FS volume label and serial are not available.
error anymore, but launcher log still has that

Code: Select all

[20/05/06 17:36:02] E Start : Failed to get process ID
