The Lair party...A Chosen's take.

In days long ago, Lairs were the most forsaken and forlorn places in a given region, dusty crypts where none but the brave dared tread. In the present day, entire groups ate food and toasted each other with drink until the next chance at killing the boss arrived. Orange-clad Bright Wizards would roast fat, juicy turkeys over controlled flames during sordid “Lair Parties” financed by the Empire. Destruction Lair Parties involved Marauders sharing edible bits of their mutated arms in cannibalistic rites, meant to expediently summon the Lair Bosses.
Despite the risk of going by himself, Ooul the Chosen went to the Blighted Isle to slay Order at the Elf Lair. The monolithic stone door rolled away, and the Lady was not present—but there was a Slayer and White Lion awaiting her arrival. Also inside the Lair were three members of Destruction: a Shaman, a Choppa, and a seasoned Dark Elf Blackguard with a glaive unsuited to one of his high stature. Ooul knew all had come for good loot, particularly the Blackguard.
The two Order at the Lair were marked as non-combatants under a flag of truce. They doubtless came to make a try at Lair Boss loot as well, and Ooul found their white flag frustrating. “Is it not the point of a war to kill the enemy?” The Chosen said to the Blackguard. “How is it that those two are not attackable? I can’t believe that—”
Suddenly, a Witch Hunter appeared out of the shadows, severely wounding the Shaman. The Slayer and White Lion attacked also, as the clash-of-arms was joined! The seven dedicated soldiers fought in and out of the Lair-cave and across the foot of the Blighted Mountain, with Ooul shield-bashing the White Lion, steeping back to avoid the Slayer’s scathing twin axes, while dodging the tip of the Witch Hunter’s deadly rapier. Each of the combatants battled bravely, and although at one point Ooul got his foot wedged in a jagged rock, the honorable Witch Hunter did not kill him.
Finally, the fighting carried them back into the lair, where the last of the Order were slain. The two Greenskins cheered, “Wauuugh!”
Ooul, gasping for a breath, said, “They fought well…We had them out-numbered and we had a Healer, yet they didn’t quit.”
“Go out and find your footing, Chosen!” the Blackguard shouted angrily, “For while you wasted energy wedged in a rock I was nearly slain!” Yet Ooul discerned a hint of a smile on the Blackguard’s face—a rare thing to see on the visage of one so often consumed by rage.
The Chosen realized that all three of them—Shaman, Choppa, and Blackguard—experienced one of the most exuberating battles ever, in the same way that Ooul had, simply because the three Order would not give up nor give ground.
After regaining his breath, Ooul went to the tomb’s door to see if more Order were coming. To his surprise, the door opened before he activated it, and into the cave piled a dozen enemy soldiers led by a cross-eyed Warrior Priest! Ooul had no chance to even run—someone had sent a message to Empire Command, and an entire squadron of Order had been dispatched to kill them.
The Blackguard, Shaman, and Choppa gave their all, but were overcome by force of numbers. Amazingly, Ooul was left with a thread of life, merely trampled into the ground at the door rather than attacked. Ooul held still, hoping they wouldn’t discover that he yet lived.
The twelve Order surveyed the back of the cave, while Ooul slipped out the door. As he was leaving, Ooul heard the myopic Warrior Priest triumphantly declaring, “That’s what you get for gankin’ lowbie Order!”
Ooul nearly laughed aloud. He thought to himself, “Lowbie? Obviously, the Priest wasn’t here…Those three Order soldiers fought royally!” Ooul limped back to the Destruction Warcamp, just able to hear the Order squadron popping corks on bottles, beginning their latest Lair Party. The Chosen’s dark heart was ridden with anger. He felt it was tragic that all the warriors whom he had fought alongside of (or against) now lay dead, and those celebrating “victory” had done nothing at all valorous.
