Class rebalancing (or outright class rewrites) and constant item/stat changes are something that keeps me from returning to a game I enjoyed for more than three years.
That's not true.
Most of my PvE is on /5 and is usually successful.
PvE has been experiencing a resurgence lately, and on the /5 channel, you see endless spam from people looking for players to run dungeons.

But why?

Is it because PvE is enjoyable, or because people are forced into it order to save a ton of crests.

In my guild, there’s very few that would do PvE, unless they had to. Sure, you can do without, but the amount of crests you save by doing PvE pretty much forces you, especially since not RR but crests are the real time sink.

Occasionally i like to do pve, yes i confess it. But the pve team would get much more success if they make pve encounters shorter.

Bb and crypt are good examples. 30 mins pve could be refreshing for a change and i like to do it from time to time. But +1 or 2 hours runs are not fun for most.
Make pve shorter and more ppl will engage not by necessity but for strange, wicked pleasure
Mostly harmless

Tie cities with appearance items. Either directly or through some currency. Don't make the mistake of locking the end game gear behind time-of-the-day dependant instances. In the past, many players hated forts and cities, but were forced to do them to get the gear they needed to have fun in other places. Gameplay is supposed to be fun, not a chore.

Fashionhammer is the way.

This, or the fact you have to run the dungeons 4 times for each characters. For us with lots of toon and who generally are not that much into pve it is huge chore to tackle (40 times + in total)

The new map editor sounds amazing and the first thing its being used for are dungeons instead of buggy, glitchy terrains in the rvr lakes or old horribly designed rvr maps (caledor comes to mind first). Than we have TOVL and even Captured cities will be pve related. Maybe its just me, but i cant even force myself to do 3 hours of Lost Vale for bis weapons as i have limited time to play every day and then there is more long hours of pve grind coming with possibly bis gear behind it.

I'm in the minority in so much as I play rvr exclusively in small man / solo and I actually really enjoy PVE, particularly on tanks/healers. If its optional then surely its a win-win right? Bit like wards, you can unlock via rvr or pve. Did you used to like the LOTD PQs, maybe more of a PvEvP? I certainly did! Having a myriad of content feels cool imo.

Map editor though, my god that's huge, just imagine what that could bring in the years to come!!! Incredibly exciting <3

I just wish all this focus that goes into pve would go into rvr instead, but i understand its separate teams working on it. So kudos to the pve team they are doing a great job, and im sure a lot of people enjoy pve, but after 15 years of wow and other mmos like Final Fantasy XIV, Lost arc i got tired of pve as there is nothing new or interesting to me in it anymore. As long as they give us Bis weapons through pvp aswell its not a problem. But at the moment some classes bis are obtained from Lost vale only, even after the weapon rework. So i can only hope that these new weapons will compete with the pve ones.

as long as its really optional and not super important gear pieces like BiS weapons will be locked purely behind it. I dont mind.
Would like also to add that I probably wouldnt mind running the dungeons few times here and there but the sheer amount of dungeons that is or used to be (now as tri ring will be 2k, i will likely skip crypts a lot) was staggering, 4x bb/crypt/4x bs/4x lv and valewalker ring+ shoulders did carry many physical dps for a long time, so thats 4x hunters vale too. for some chgaracters. Bloodlord weapons used to be BiS, and now the darkpromise weapons seem to be among the top, if not THE best picks for most. Some anathema/revence weapons are kinda ok tho, I picked anathemas for some of my toons. Very few fort weapons are worth picking up atm.
