I'm utterly surprised, and over-joyed, just how much of an evil tw@t Konrad is. He is, actually, the most evil bar-steward I've ever read in any BL novel. The stuff he does is sickening.

I would suggest "The Kingkiller Chronicle" (books 2 outta 3 are done and out) - by Patrick Rothfuss.

Imo, this is the best i have read ever.
