Whilst I always enjoy a good ol' runout in Martyrs Square I've immediately seen all the same old problems: blobbing, and a lack of meaningful campaign progression.
You know it already.
Three whole zones open and everyone ends blobbed up in one. Splitting off to another zone doesn't work - spend 30 minutes running boxes only to have both realms blob you at the keep if you decide to push it. An organised force could push a quiet zone, block posterns etc, but they don't want to run boxes, they want to fight, and that's okay.
An org WB splitting from the blob in any zone also cascades to blobbing. If they meet another org WB this should be the dream fight. But one side will win and it's not a coin flip; better comp, better leader, better players on the night - how many rounds does the loser take before they seek safety in numbers, two? three? Eventually they call it or blob.
The crux to me is that the zones and campaign design gives no reason to be anywhere but the active zone.
My suggestion is a Campaign Point System that runs parallel to the current design.
Put simply, whenever the campaign moves on (a zone locks) both realms receive a reward equal to the total number of keep stars they own across all zones. The winning realm (who locked the zone) gets Campaign Crests per Keep Rank. The losing realm gets Campaign Shards. Shards are converted to Crests at a rate of 2:1. One extra: there is a maintenance cost for ranked keeps - they decay slowly so you can't just abandon a zone for another.
But what are Campaign Crests? There has to be a carrot and honestly it could be anything. I will just called it "The Carrot" but my recommendation would be these crests are contribution to a new a RvR Monthly like tracker or exclusive currency that can be spent at City Stage 3.
Why I think this works
- The losing realm has reasons to keep fighting. Every keep star ranked is a point banked.
- The winning realm has a reason to push other zones - rank up multiple zones for a big win. A blob leaves rewards on the table if it ignores off-zones.
- It's more dynamic than the current system
