BUFF the BG already

Got back a bit on the BG and my god. The channel crit between 70-300 dmg with 700 str 600 ws (almost bis) It is soo bad. It is also a hard requirement to get more resources.(hatred)

My suggestion increase filled with fury to make it last longer than 5 seconds before the global cooldown change you could at least use 3 or 4 abilities now it's barely 3 if your lucky and aint casting a non attack ability. 15% crit for 5 seconds is pretty bad already soo making it atleast 6-7-8 seconds.

and

Enraged beating increasing the single target dmg to atleast +25% it's soo bad right now.

Those 2 buff would make a big improvement and would not require testing.

Exile could be reworked since other tanks can instantly max knockback

Yep. Not sure why tank off spec is so bad when healer off-specs can smack hard and stealth classes can tank. I don't recall BG being that great on Live either. The channel needs a buff bad. Mix of chosen last tick and higher base damage, and even arm pen built in or something.

DPS Spec'd healers can kill the dummies in 12-18 seconds. My BG's best time was 29 seconds as glass. Seems contradictory to allow some classes off'spec to be very effective while others are terrible.

Shelved my BG after I got BIS.

Not saying the BG shouldn't be buffed, but DPS healers give up almost all of their utility to DPS. 2H tanks still get guard, challenge, AE root, lots of buffs, and almost all of their useful tanky tools.

Well we comparing Tanks to tanks i mean BO got the big punt now and can do 3-4 times the dmg of the bg. It's been said for years now you could analyse it compare to chosen where they can get 25% parry any time they want with no negative while bg gota get a tactic and need high hatred. BG are really weaker than all other tanks but also require the most skill IMO that hatred way harder than grudge from the iron breaker i got all tanks over rank 70+ and i can tell you BG is the weakest and having single target more dmg would be welcome and easy to do.

tanks are not meant to deal damage. they are meant for guarding, punting, CCing and other utility. the damage that most tanks can deal is quite enough for how fast TTK can be in the current meta (implying group content, typically in 2/2/2 comps which the game is largely balanced around)

at any decent level of organized group play tanks are the core element in causing and preventing kills. this is the case due to their ability to guard, guardswap, KD offensively/defensively, punt away enemy guards to initiate kill attempts and punt away enemy dps defensively to lower the enemies' pressure. tanks have the ability to control the entire way a fight flows due to their utility and CC and their successes or mistakes are often what gives one side the advantage in the moment. therefore giving them too much damage on top of their existing capabilities can quickly edge on making them too powerful and break the balance of the game

last few times they tried to buff tanks' damage it threatened to do major harm to the balance of group gameplay, specifically smallscale and scenarios. i recall not long ago, in september i believe, they almost overbuffed 2h chosen (on test server their channel had 50% more damage per dread aura active and it was able to crit for 2k+) and they had to nerf it down to 25% before it went live. something similar happened with 2h BO some time ago, they had a damage oriented build that allowed double melee 2/2/2 comps to kill through guard when aided by the tanks' absurd damage

BG is just weird in general. 2H BG doesn't have enough oomph and SnB BG is terminally boring (if hard to kill).

That said, I don't think you can just boost the damage as suggested without making sure BG can't stack mitigation. Still it needs something.

Based on my time from Beta until the darkest day of existance, server shutdown, Blackguards were the highest skill ceiling tank and when played as intended were the scariest tank to engage. Majority of the Asian guilds on badlands operated with Blackguards as their "main" tank in duo, trios, quads, quints, six-mans, etc, due to their ability to engage and disengage comfortability.

Hope some insight helps; back to lurking

I do agree with buffing BG damage, but only its own damage and specifically its channel.
Compared to the other tank channels BG's is probably the worst one:

Image

It has the 3rd smallest base damage and the smallest tier of wDPS coefficient (~5.5) and it also has the worst DB scaling among the channels. It is also physical damage and its secondary effect is not offensive, but utility (pumping BG's Hatred on crits).
Meanwhile:
- SM's channel outperforms every other channel in all 3 categories and is non-physical, but has no secondary effect.
- Chosen's channel is quite similar to BG's only that it is non-physical and it's secondary effect buffs the last hit by 25% or 50% usually (so overall 4%-8% dmg increase)
- KOTBS' channel has great stats in all 3 categories and as a secondary effect grants it usually 10% or 20% armor penetration on it.
- BO channel is also not doing great damage and also has no secondary effect (at least it can proc Bellows and Loudmouth)
- IB channel also has quite bad stats, however it's secondary effect grants it increased crit (by up to 20%) and increased armor penetration (by up to 10%)

So overall, the big outlier here is BG channel (and BO channel to a certain extent).

I would love to see a tiny damage increase on BG's channel or an additional secondary effect that perhaps scales off of Hatred like IB.

Sad that few forum posts reduced the Chosen last tick by 25% and the SM casually clocks in with a much better channel, and its magic damage.

We all see 'something isn't quite right', Onlymelee sees the real imbalance. Thanks for the real data as always.
