Oil mechanics

just some passive suggestion. i believe oil mechanics atm just seem a bit bleh and boring.

Make it to where oil doesn't despawn but does about a third of the damage (ticks for 1k opposed to 3k) to where its always a mechanic but not something either side has to wait for it to do something (ram would be able to stay on door with decent heals). This would create new interest in:

Keep Sieges i believe, currently people just sit back if you're not ranged and stay doing nothing (which this wouldn't help too much, but would keep a constant flux of players on ram to protect it from defenders). Healers and tanks would always have a job.

Keep Defenses it would create a new strategy of defense, opposed to just "Push when oil is up" or "spawn oil when door goes down" just to have random pugs fighting to spawning it asap.

atm Oil just seems to be a specific topic that gets alot of rage in RvR.

A good tank with focus heal on him can still survive and solo ram it

but what can the tank do while on ram? (oil still hits 3k, or 9-12k total over 2seconds.) maybe you meant well geared. but regardless to keep 1 tank up (without enemies ontop of him) on oil atm is a feat, almost never see it.

It's entirely possible to keep a tank alive thru oil. If there are any decent defenders spamming aoe on the ram along with oil, its really not possible to keep someone alive. Even with a warband of healers trying to keep the tank alive.

Without oil doing insane damage, sieges are over too quick as the tank won't die as they ram thru outer gate in less than a few minutes. Keeps will have the inner door tagged and blockaded before defenders can react. Keep sieges will end too quickly.

With oil doing insane damage, attacker ranged dps must focus on killing oil to continue the siege. That leaves an opening for defenders to press the attackers while they are occupied, momentarily evening the odds a bit and allowing the defenders a chance to push and possibly route the attackers despite inferior numbers.

As much as I hated the oil damage change that was made so long ago, it really made sieges more interesting than sitting around and waiting for doors to go down.

My only wish is that oil operation gave no rewards so people would use it more strategically. Too many defenses were ruined cause someone was anxious to get a couple quick kills rather than waiting and obliterating dozens of tanks and mdps pushing the funnel.
