But! Their st burst in solo roaming is nothing special at all, if someone do BiS test on real rotation without cheesing it 3 seconds burst wont exceed ~5-6k (we talk solo roaming rotation resembling realistic one) if reach it even at all i suspect. So whats the issue with burst exactly? DPS RP/zealot/am/shaman gonna have same result, more or less. Hence i say that someone with bis solo roam magus could publish real numbers already, takes not more than 10 minutes.

Also anyone could just open scoreboard, check Teefz performance on SH and his performance on magus. Situation is clear as day
Well, sometimes i do let enemy players shoot at one of my tanks specifically created to check how much DPS enemy targets are doing in a live situation( it won't die the second i hit Hold the line, just for the experiment),

My findings are that Magus has some of the scariest sustain and Burst possible vs a single target, it just melts anything fast not stacked with high avoidance and/or mitigation. At some point i loaded my SM with 1,1k elemental res( racial tactic, liniment, pot stacked) alongside 800 toughness( 2 handed build in this case).

The damage going through was still pretty impressive and there would have been zero chance for this SM if it didn't hold distance with Wall of Darting Steel on cd whilst backpedaling retreating.

Maybe one thing RoR should have had all along, is a dps fall of based on range check, at max range of 110ft doing some of the scariest and high burst, sustained ST dps with direct strong Crits and simultaneously dots stacked with pet attacks is kinda crazy tbh.

The average target with 5xx resistances in a solo situation is stripped bare naked the second that Pet 370 debuff lands, it's dead a few moments later.

But you are completely right that this has always been the case with Magi, however there is no doubt this is imbalanced in the context of solo.

LOL some of you getting bent out of shape at my listed stats and build. Here is the link for the lazy https://www.returnofreckoning.com/armor ... ter/435096.

Before all the patches I was mostly running Changing (b/c lots of AOE numbers are fun) then was converting over to Daemonology to give a more close range melee version a try. I got so much (pre-buff) renown on Magus that I outstripped my crest accumulation by a significant margin so couldn't armor him up the way I wanted.

My .getstats crit is 13. You can, ofc, add the 15% havoc onto that for most cases but I didn't report that b/c I figured folks could do the math. My bad.

All that is to say that even with my non-pro, noob build and rotation I'm hitting 900 DPS and 5k burst on the dummy. I would not be shocked if an optimized build is getting around 1200 dps but maybe someone with one of those can weigh in on their max.

These are Sorc burst numbers but with far greater survivability.

This is why I say it is too strong. If you are going to buff up the damage this much you should have to give up something to get something. Magus not only gave up nothing, it got more.

How desperate you must be to attack me with something I already just admitted to in my own post ...

Meanwhile, ask yourself this, how bad could Magus have really been if I was able to accumulate so much renown with my "not very good" skills that I outran my crests and that I can take my existing AOE setup, convert directly over to Havoc and put up 900 dps with a sub-optimal rotation?

You literally just made my point. TYVM.

Construct burst means nothing.

Pvp combat vs real targets does.

Also magus didnt gain much that actually makes a difference compared to what it was pre ablity rework patch.

every day there is even more maguses xD

but worst part about that few of them are exploiters like other maguses in the past. Who play long enough will remember famous for example speed hackers.
If u ask in game this guys how they were able to kill U in specifc spot or avoid something they wont even reply ;)

That is an interesting assertion for which I can provide significant evidence that is not true:

Pre patch: Even with insta-summons it took 4-5 seconds for pet damage bonus to ramp.
Post patch: Now it is instant 20% damage with compresses the DPS window.

Pre-patch: Withered Soul 20s cooldown
Post patch: Can be recast at will (only one target at a time though)

Pre-patch: Daemonic Withering 15% damage boost for Withered Soul (which was 20s CD) but defendable
Post patch: Daemonic Withering 10% damage boost for Withered Soul but undefendable and can swap targets at will

Pre-patch: Swift Flames reduced CD on SVF down to 3 seconds
Post-patch: Swift Flames reduces it to 5 seconds but reduces cast times by 25% on next ability e.g. heavy hitters like Bolt of Change goes from 3s to 2.25s or MBF goes from 2s to 1.5s

So, at a minimum, Magus went from a class that required dropping their pet and waiting a maybe 5 seconds to get full ramp-up on their damage abilities to getting a guaranteed 30% damage boost (drop pet, use DW +WS) at the start of the engagement.

And, as you noted, real combat isn't like the dummy so if you forced a pre-patch magus to move or disrupted DW+WS you could significantly drop their dps. But not anymore. Now they can be full damage all the time. And with the reduction in cast times from Swift Flames you also reduce the opportunity for setback.

These all sound like significant gains that actually make a difference at both the dps dummy and under combat conditions to me.

I think you'd be better off debating if they are "too much" than if they were improvements. :P

yup!

Got a screenshot from a year ago, where i did 1156 dps (5.9k burst) when i tried havoc, but that was the training dummy.
What actually happens is 1/4 of my casts get disrupted. They do bugger all damage to tanks (someone said Magus was melting tanks....Really?)
