Stance mechanics should be jettisoned and reworked into something that doesn't actively punish the player.
Yes, the BO/SM class mechanic is without any doubts the worst in the game.

It punishes the player without any compensation, stance mechanic is in general(all games) the worst mechanic a class can get. You need macros/addons to even make them tolerable.

Back in World of Warcraft the warrior class had it, but that game had superior macro usage so the player could bind certain abilities to swiftly jump stances accordingly to what the situation demanded, this system was otherwise equal to the SW/MARA stances(obviously mythic devs, copied WoW or other MMO)

However, the BO/SM mechanic is just punishing, devs thought tactics like for example +20 crit would compensate, but in reality they don't. On average a Chosen 15% crit (all the time) tactic will be better than the 0/10/20 mechanic.

Our RoR devs then thought it was a good idea to tie BO/SM new single target punts( punts which requires sometimes split second reaction) to this archaic clunky system. Obviously it shouldn't if balance was done correctly.

As it is, imho BO/SM deserves to have bonuses to each stance, like stats increase or something else.

The Mythic developers would definitely have overhauled the entire system if the live game still existed, not sure why RoR devs are conservative when it is obvious how bad it is.

BO has a total of two tactics that interact with the plan mechanic — and neither of them is core.

The Plan system is already restrictive and clunky by design. What BO really needed was a single-target punt that didn’t require Best Plan, but instead had its range scale with the current plan level. That would’ve made the ability responsive and useful at all times, while still rewarding good planning — instead of gating a important CC tool behind the most delayed state of the class mechanic.

We asked devs to untie st punt from mechanic bork/sm but they decided not to. I like sm stancedance, but it pretty shity when u lag. With plan B no real issues with it in normal conditions. RP/zeals also didnt have real class mechanics. Kotbs/cho same , cant call those press and forget auras mechanic.
Noximilien - AM, Severi - SM, Ravandin - SW, Celebor - WL, Ernwald - WH, Demandred - BG, Mesana - Sork, Beliar - DoK.

Just checked back in on this thread and I want to say despite any differences in opinion I'm happy for people engaging with it and leaving their thoughts. I was beginning to think I was a bit alone in my cynicisms of the classes current state, but reading these posts has further reinforced my stance on things.

Ris's idea for SM/BO punt scaling with plan states should be a trademarked idea.

Also gonna agree that the "here's your single target punt tactic" approach was definitely a little bit sloppy. The shifting of knockdown to stage 2 of plan system was strange as well, I'm glad someone brought it up.

I appreciate all you guys.

Great idea!
