Hello !

Recently, i was wondering how we could give veterans (and so newcomers later) more goals and "carrot" in this wonderful game.

I think 3 important elements could be added to improve general fun in RvR/endgame goals

Objectives

Objectives are a really cool Warhammer Online feature. Nice looking locations, strategic points, with a flag capturing system. However, they are almost useless, except for keep upgrade (that a minority do). On tabletop game (at least in 40k) and lore, they are extremely important !

WHAT COULD WE DO : Make them more usefull ! It could be 1% reknown buff if you hold an objective for 2 minutes, with a short uptime. We can even imagine a slight wounds/defensive buff, some warcrests to win, or a very low chance to win a bag.

Or the bombling idea :
T4 oRvR battle objectives could really use an overhaul to be a more fun experience, as the main gameplay loop. Each BO for the defenders controlled during a siege reducing Ram damage output by 25/50/75/100 for 1/4 BOs controlled could make the smallscale appeal or splitting up zergs during keep sieges.

WHY : they would make more raids splits, fights in different locations of the map instead of fighting everytime in the same places

Relic Mode

The Relic event introduced with Sigmartag is very, very fun. The sense of danger, the feeling of escorting a payload like in TF2/Overwatch, or the Relic from Daoc (Scrolls in Elder SCrolls Online) bring sense of realm pride, force to use scouts, make you use the world map intelligently. This should stay as a permanent mode, maybe with reknown buffs heavily tuned down

I'm also hyped to build defensives raids to block Destro from coming into our noble Reikwald !

Endgame carrot and goals for 80-87 RR

We all know lvls after 80 are tedious, and some veterans ask for fashionhammer, goals and rewards long terms. Why could we not bring best of both world ?
Horizontal progression is also a very good principle of retention, and we dont want to create a even bigger gap of stats between veterans and newcomers.

That's why i heavily suggest to give "Tyrant" skin parts for each lvl after 80

Example : RR80 = boots, RR81 belt, RR82 cape and so on. We could take the magnificient existing skins and remove stats, put name in orange, with a short RP description, to bring some "elite" and "legendary" feeling. I made and example :

I'm 200% sure MANY players would chase thoses skins by leveling their reknown, and motivate them furthermore :)

I personally would put Tyrant cosmetic gear in City bags. Make City Great Again by rewarding the most competitive aspect of this game.

BOs rework and new game features like Relic Running are a must, 100%. Whichever idea y'all think is best.

My personal addition is that we need to make creating content easier. I've been yapping about this for a while now. Like yes, Relic Running is fun, but its gonna be "locked out" to a bunch of players because it requires at least an organized pugband to do it. So we have to make pugleading easier to try and incentivize more pugleaders.

I've led a lot of pugs on both sides and the most annoying parts of it are getting people to join and managing groups - both have solutions that are ALREADY available, but it requires addons, so its an extra step that filters out potential pugleaders from stepping up. Just make Open WBs work like Autoband by being a 2/2/2 by default, with an ingame button to disable it if u want. That way you don't have to spam /5, deal with invites or manage groups, and people can just join with the click of a button.

This will hopefully help with the main problem this game has imo, which is a poor "log in and play" loop. Its not THAT hard, but it isn't simple either, to find content outside of Guild Events. But if Open WBs become an enjoyable experience thanks to forcing people to actually run them properly, cuz lets be honest an Open WB that isn't 2/2/2 will melt to anything that looks at them hard enough, then after SCs Matchmaking get fixed too the loop will become much better.

Any idea that will break handholding 3+ warband blob rotating on map or camping one central point of a map will get a warm welcome to shake up current RvR state. Idea to attach controling amount of BOs to something has so many possibilities and doesnt seem to be hard to implement.

Bombling is great persona, has many great ideas, I wonder why he is still a common member of community and not some kind of advisor or something.

relics and/or BO rework need to happen, orvr is in dire need of fix and added things to spice it up. it would be cool to see relic type of mechanic occurring permanently in RoR. BO/siege rework must occur for the health of the game, it can come in many ways and many have suggestions to choose from.

as for tyrant, i think having it at as a cosmetic 85+rr reward is too high. i don't think it's a good idea to attach a carrot to extremely high renown ranks. imo, people should not be encouraged to grind 1 character to insanely high RR for cosmetics that were originally from a different source when instead you could have 10+ 70rr alts with the same amount of time spent getting to 87 on 1. better if they made entirely new, custom cosmetic items for those RR rewards. it's better off as it original was which was, a dungeon reward when that dungeon comes to RoR, or repurposed as a purely cosmetic reward for city siege wins (maybe reincorporate city MMR) or as a ranked reward if the dungeon does not come back. this way you are rewarded for skill based, endgame gameplay instead of just playing for years to grind renown.

I like the suggestions for fashion Hammer, I suggested myself a version of BO rework a while ago (viewtopic.php?p=537933#p537933) , I don't like buffing renown as its not affecting at all the battlefield outcome. I like LOTD BO's and I think those are the way to go, mix pve with rvr and earn renown while maintaining it as well as providing your factions some defensive capabilities on top of that, 4 BO's give you more possibilities to defend / attack, no BO's and blobbing in keep leads to a defeat. Force the split.

Yeah same. My dream version of oRvR is the Devs use that new Map Editor they announced back in August and make all the lakes bigger, then rework BOs so they are chained like in LOTD. LotD has both blob fights (which ARE fun, just not fun when its the only option you have), WB v WB fights and small scale fights - all of that cuz of how BOs and the Point System works.

Doesn't have to be an exact copy of LotD i guess, but anything that can split blobs and make sieges possible during prime time (when its not one sided) would be great.

Relics,

It's a fun idea. But we do have the same payload system with Rams being escorded from one keep to the other, and how many rams are getting contested. Probably 1/10?

I wonder if a new Bar could be made like the Citysiege-meter and Lotd Bar showing which realm controls it and when the next relic will spawn so then players can atleast not get supriced by when a relic appears, and form up groups and warbands to contest the relic if they were to be a more permanent addition.

In the past i tried to form improptu ambush groups when we had the old fort system where you needed 2/3 fort captures to open the city, to setup a line of defence and suprice the attackers as they came through the fortress-pairring portals into reikwald. But gathering people for something improptu seemed very hard and unlikely and i wonder if Relics would fall in the same category, or if the rewards and fights were garenteed they would be like Forts are now and people happily show up to them (atleast Order :roll: )

Anything collectable, cosmetic and nonpowerspikes for RR80 mains is a welcome addition in my book.
Skins, Dyes, masks, pets, mounts, Titles, ingame banners on capital houses, statues, RR80+ serverwide annoucements when people ding on their 81,82,83 etc to celebrate people enjoying their classes when theres no more powerspikes.

I agree with Gersy's point of view, we should not be adding more incentive (cosmetic or otherwise) for people to stick to grindng one character and never venturing outside of that past rr80 imo. In a game with a small population its much more beneficial for people to be encouraged to make new characters and become better at the game by doing so rather then camping one character and never learning anything beyond that stagnating a players growth.

I also think adding unique cosmetic rewards as rare rewards for winning in premade citys (but not pug soloq ones) are a great idea, make city great again and give some prestige to the people who make the effort to become great at the competitive side of the game
