Tax is guild wide for every member. Tithe is a self tax, donation thing.

Renown contributed just means how much renown you’ve earned since joining that ALSO levels up your guild level. It is not a tax or taking anything from you.

As I remember it from live, tax was based only on actual coin drops and not gold received from selling trash to vendors or getting in mail from friends/ah. In other words, fairly limited.
