It's not a new feature. Renown is mostly an indication of time played. Why would anyone be upset by this though?
It's an innocuous feature that some people might find fun. Contrary to the pointless comments from the pissants, there is nothing wrong with that.

It has nothing to do with 'premade heroes', the people showing are nearly always going to be lowbies or zerglings who get in the most forts
