Possible to AoE loot?

Newer player, and leveling up an alt to aoe farm for gold/mats, I've come across multiple times where its impossible to actually loot mobs due to them being stacked.

Is there something I'm overlookin in the settings to AoE loot, or is it just not possible? I've even attempted to train the mobs down so they die seperated a bit but still run into this problem.

Am I missing something or just a normal game mechanic to learn, and pull less mobs?

Under Key Mapping > Targetting > Loot Nearest. Bind it to a key to loot corpses.
