Hi Guys,
After researching the 40k MMO that got cancelled a while back, I ended up finding this game is still up? I love anything Warhammer so this is such a cool gem to find.
I'm very excited to give this game a go as a casual player. I've been searching for a MMO for a while but everything is dead now. WOW is boring, EVE Online you need no life, I just want to play a game, in a world, casually enjoy myself and sink into the immersion of this Amazing Universe.
I'm probably going to choose the chaos side as I have a sweet spot for green skins, but always might change my mind later on.
If anyone would like to join me as a new player or give me any advice on what I should look out for please do.

You seem to know a fair bit about MMOs so keep in mind that this game was made at the same time as WotLK and is something of a "WoW clone" in some ways but very different in others.Helghasts wrote: Sun Dec 07, 2025 8:43 pm Hi Guys,

For instance, like WoW, gear is your main source of power and stats. However, this is PvP game first and foremost and so you have two level systems. The gold bar is EXP which is your career level. You also have a renown rank, which is the purple bar on your screen. You can only gain renown from PvP. The purple bar is in many ways more important than the gold bar. You will want to keep that purple bar much higher than the gold one. Renown unlocks your passive defensives such a parry, dodge, block, etc. High level gear also tends to require a renown rank to use.
Next, this game invented the Tome of Knowledge that a lot of MMOs later stole. The book icon on your screen is where you will track your progress on "wards." Also high level gear requires you to unlock the prior ward before using so be sure to read that section of the tome.
When in doubt, there is the advice or /ad channel on the chat where you can ask questions. Reading the wiki and the new player sections of the wiki are also a good idea. Youtube also has a wealth of videos and guides about this game, just search "returning of reckoning guide."
As far as classes go, you can't go wrong with greenskins, they are all good. But whichever you choose, go to the greenskins section of this form and read up on it.Also the "Career Builder," section of this website is a lifesaver when it comes to researching your builds and class abilities.
Brynnoth Goldenbeard (40/80) (IB) -- Rundin Fireheart (40/50) (RP) -- Ungrinn (40/40) (Engi)-- Bramm Bloodaxe (40/83) (Slayer) and a few Empire characters here or there, maybe even an elf.
