Your friend is usually blasted up by sorcs and maguses and the initiative part of it is more useful than the parry %... Not to make you feel better, but in my experience WP is really really weak class in T1. However, in T4 you are one of the best, most unkillable character and the backbone of every order army or SC party. So just endure the temporal imbalances and suck it up.
