Was the 100dps from the turret/squiggy wrong/different than life? Very much so. I can't remember which option it was, but turrets either inherited their owner's main-hand DPS, or had the standard DPS rating of an NPC of the player's level. Quests or farming until 32, then join a PQ group and work on getting your Ruin gear and Epic weapons. With Ruin, your epic quest weapons and some talis, you should be able to do OK in T4 while you work on Anni/Merc gear and SC weapons.
