in GW2 you have to grind much more to get 80

if you have group with saint trinity tank-healer-aoe_dd, your should be able to get 40 in few days.
stack armor and kill groups of mobs at once. best result if you can handle mobs with your_lvl...your_lvl+2.

it's pretty similar situation for original game during city sieges well except one thing, in first version of city siege, lowbies have to win scenarios to get victory points.
