try switching to the 'stable' binary instead of the 'experimental' (it used to be 32 bit or 64 bit option in the launcher setings) or
if you're using dxvk try logging in once without it or update to the latest dxvk

i doubt much will change anyway but if I was going to show magus some love i'd either drop the 3 second cast for pet entirely or make the insta caster a base buff or an ability buff low in a tree

just to take some pressure off magus tactics choices and hey why not apparently witch hunters get 5 ...

one option to think about are the purple weapons from hunters vale
some of them you can purchase on the Auction House

just filter the level range from 40 to 40 and then choose 'weapons'
and you'll get hunters vale weaponry
not bad to have until you get better stuff
