The way I see it, the End Times haven't happened in this timeline. From the current point in time and forward I feel like we can create our own lore.

No worries, man! Things have been a little slow as of late, but they'll pick back up whenever T2 releases.

Correct; you can only change your title by leveling up your renown (for now). You can go here and scroll down to the bottom for a list of renown titles.

The vendors would be a great help when items such as capes, helms, and shoulders go missing. It's not like you can just go farm more in a reliable time frame.
