I had suggested a while ago making purple seeds an exploration achievement - couldn't it be controlled via achievement check how many seeds you already have? I'm pretty sure one could add some kind of invisible token to check the overal amount of seeds on char.

In order to 'prevent' loosing purple seeds due to different circumstances connected with crashes etc

I have a suggestion to make purple seeds similar to bestial token rewards:
when player gets purple seed, this character receives respective tome unlock
put purple seed npc vendor in faction ...
