I was in game and all the NPC's disappeared, couldn't do anything, not even log out.

Had to end task.

Now same thing can't get beyond the character select screen.

That is really going to depend on you and what you like to do in these games. Honestly, I would recommend to do something similar to what I did. Sulorie, first off, I agree with you... Duo'ing with a healer would be your best bet by far, but If you truly are solo, and just want to farm some with your low level Sorc, that tactic is better than nothing. Sure, on my DOK I can grab up half a dozen mobs and mow them down, rinse and repeat ad naus...
