how long does it take after recovering password to register it to your client password?

in other words, I'm trying to use my new password and it's saying invalid, do I have to wait???

Even though my username on the client is different to my login name on this?

I have gone through the forgotten password process and I've received my email and gotten my new password and activated it.

Does this change both my forum and client password or just my forum?

If the answer is just my forum (site) password, how would I go about getting my client password reset ...
