The only practical advice i can give is to CC the pet and kill the pet if possible. Use terrain to mess with pets pathing to gain more distance (like big stones, trees). If you play enough you will recognize parts of the lakes where you can use pet pathing to your advantage.

There a few solutions to AOE problem regarding pets already in the game (as mentioned above):

1. Revenge tactic (50% more dmg after pet dies for 10s), its possible to run a pet AOE build in 12 mans for example with more of a burst aoe playstyle in contrast to loner which offers more like a brawler ...

Doesnt a Blob create content for everyone? Pugs can group up and dont need to organize. org. WB can flank and roam. Small Scale Partys can play around the edges.

If you dont want to blob there is always the option to swich zones. I really dont understand the Problem. RvR is made to be a Sandbox ...

Accountbound Warcests are a very bad Idea. I am not against Accountwide progression, but doing it with Warcrests will only create more Problems i.e. killing Pug Warbands.

With RR 58 i recommend using Bloodlord or Vanquisher. Vanquisher is slightly better than Bloodlord but if you already got the ward i would save the warcrests and start saving up for your 3 triumphat piences (belt, gloves, boots) and sov.
