Return of Reckoning

I just created a new Dwarf character and am doing the starting quests in Mordon's Anvil. I am now on the quest Flatten 'Em but whenever I fire the cannon into the Greenskins they all Dodge the damage and run on air across the canyon to attack me. Is this a known glitch or am I doing something wrong?
