Did you try using the unpacked launcher from COMMON ISSUES - READ OR DIE - YES THAT MEANS YOU ?

Out of curiosity, just how long do mails stay at the inbox before they vanish?
A too low time setting could, in certain cases, explain vanishing items.

That's what I figured by talking with other folks, nobody seems to have gotten that issue.
From my notes, the only chars that have those issues are the two I played the day of the event.

Here's another odd one:
Bought horse the day of the event, now I have neither the horse or the money I bought it ...

Oddities

Out of curiosity, did some sort of rollback happen in the last couple of days?
If not, then I seem to be having issues with characters not saving properly.

ie:
Lost some gear
Lost some gold
Items put for sale on the AH aren't there anymore
Lost rr's
Lost quest progress & XP

All those have happened ...
